I’ve always been a fan of embroidered photographs,
but embroidered gifs – how cool is that!
Loving these beautiful textile sculptures of moths and butterflies by artist
Yumi Okita. Yumi incorporates cotton fabric, fake fur, hand painting and
embroidery in her wonderfully detailed pieces. These are pretty
substantial sculptures measuring anywhere from 6-11 inches.
If you haven’t discovered the work of Elsa Mora and her shop Elsita, you
are definitely missing out on a beautiful magical journey. Not only is
Elsa a brilliant painter, but her paper cutting artwork is incredible. Lucky
for us Elsa sells prints of her original paintings in her Etsy shop. If you
ever wanted to try your hand at paper cutting she also offers diy patterns
like the one below. One of my favorite blogs, Art is a Way happens to be
written by Elsa too!
My favorite images from the iPhone Photography Awards 2014. It’s

think to photograph in b/w with my phone. These images prove the
iPhone has quite the camera and of course it helps to be a talented

Back in April sisters, Lorna and Jill Watts did some pretty damn good
yarn bombing at the San Francisco Ferry Building. As a lover of
monsters I am especially fond of these. Lorna and Jill call their
monster benches Buttmunches!
The Street Art Project was recently launched by Google’s Cultural
Institute. Images culled from Google Street View are now curated in
over a 100 different collections. The images above are from 5Pointz
which was whitewashed November 2013. Luckily for us, Google
Street View has kept them alive.

Portland based artist Catherine Zacchino aka Junker Jane creates the
most wonderful soft sculpture monsters and paintings. Catherine uses
recycled fabrics which she often stains for an aged effect. Her main
inspirations come from childhood, including Beatrix Potter characters
and Peter Rabbit mixed in with other-worldly, supernatural elements.
